October 5 to October 9, 2021 Week of Respect
At Bunker Hill as bulldogs, adolescents, and humans, we have come to realize that while imperfect, we are on a journey to be the best versions of ourselves. In this Week of Respect in 2021, we have committed to understanding that we are good in character, but we strive to be great in how we present ourselves.

May 3 to May 7, 2021 Acknowledging Different Abilities
One of the hallmarks about what it means to be a Bulldog is that we realize that no person is better than the other. We all may have different talents or skills, but at BHMS we are all connected because we commit to understanding each other and what each other contributes. At BHMS accepting a person's ability is very important to us. Please review the videos and lessons below
The counselors will coordinate with the lunch study hall teachers to do an in person activity and discussion for next week. We will send out directions to the lunch study hall teachers directly as well. For students who are remote, please consider doing this lesson asynchronously.

February 22-26, 2021 (Racism)
In this day and age, we have come to realize the unfortunate reality of the continued existence of racism, bias, and prejudice in our world, country, and communities. However, when we hear the testimony of young people who have endured and have been victims of racism, it definitely gives us pause. Child actor, Lonnie Chavis (12) who plays young Randall Pearson in "This is Us" wrote an essay to his mom about his struggles with enduring racism. His essay has gone viral. This summer it was recently published in People Magazine. Lonnie has spoken about his message on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan. His essay is powerful as he emplores all those reading his essay to be champions of change.
During this week, Bunker Hill Middle School Students will view a 14 minute video whichhigh lights excerpts from this essay. After viewing the video, they will reflect on open ended questions about Lonnie and his experiences. Students will also be able to talk to administrators and counselors about their understanding of racism.
