Julie Yankanich is a 30-year resident of Washington Township and a graduate of Washington Township High School (class of 1995). She is a full-time, tenured faculty member at Camden County College and has worked at the college for 13 years. She has also been an adjunct at Rutgers-Camden for seven years, teaching a class called The Practicum in Teaching Writing for students in the English graduate program who are teaching at CCC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Rutgers University as well as a master’s degree in The Teaching of Writing from Rutgers-University. She also earned a master’s degree in Communications from Rowan University where she worked as a graduate assistant to the former president and chair of the Educational Leadership department, Dr. Herman James. Yankanich has been a girl scout leader in Washington Township for five years, as well as a youth sports coach and volunteer for the Youth Track and Field program. As a board member, Julie wants to work on communication among the various groups of people who work with the students. She is also dedicated to drug education and wellness in schools, and maintaining our stellar Early Childhood Center. She has three children attending our district schools: Erin (10), Steven (7), and Kevin (5) as well as a niece, Evolet (7) and nephew, JT (8).
