Steven Serrano, Vice President
(Term Expires: December 31, 2027)
Steven moved to Washington Township in early 2021, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, to provide a better quality of life and education for his young daughter. Originally from Pennsauken, N.J., Steven was raised in a working class, blue-collar household of six, with parents and mentors who inculcated in him an exceptionally disciplined work ethic, impenetrable core values, respect for his neighbors, the will to lead and dominate in all facets of life, and most importantly the desire to give back to his community and become a better version of himself every single day.
As a newly elected board member, Steven’s focus during his time on the board will be to make certain this school district provides the highest quality education to every student from K-12, and gives rise to productive law-abiding young men and women who are academically equipped to venture into the world and excel within their chosen professions, businesses, trade schools, community colleges, and universities.
Occupational Experience: Steven joined Exelon Corporation’s Smart Grid Project Execution team as a Project Manager in February 2023. Before joining Exelon, Steven invested almost nine years in several leadership roles within Camden County government. These roles included, but were not limited to, execution oversight for various government services initiatives; external affairs; safety training and coordination; emergency management; and public safety administration. In his previous title, Steven worked as a Public Safety administrator with Camden County College. During his tenure, he regularly managed a team of 10+ Public Safety and Community Service Officers. His duties and responsibilities included procurement and contract management, event planning and coordination, project management, internal and external stakeholder affairs, executive leadership advisement, operations management and execution, program implementation, capital budget analysis, scheduling, payroll review and approval, and other various leadership responsibilities. In addition, Steven is a United States Marine Corps veteran.
Education: Steven graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Promotion and Wellness Management from Rowan University in 2019, and in 2021 attained his Master of Science degree in Business and Organizational Leadership from Neumann University. In 2023, Steven also obtained his Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.
In his spare time, Steven is active in the community and enjoys volunteering resources when and where he can. Additional interests include reading, maintaining his mental and physical fitness and health, and, most importantly, investing time, energy, and effort into, and with, his amazing daughter.
