Atmospheric & Space Science Assignment
Dear Future Atmospheric & Space Science Student,
Welcome to Atmospheric & Space Science! I am Mrs. Carpinelli and I will be your instructor for this course. I hold a Master's Degree in Geoscience from Mississippi State University - one of the leading schools in the country for Broadcast Meteorology. This year we will explore how our weather works, what climate change is and how it will affect the planet, and what our planet's place is in the universe. We will do a number of experiments and spend time observing the natural world around us.
In order to prepare for what is to come, and to gauge your interest in the subject, you will complete a summer assignment that focuses on observation and research. This assignment will be due via Unified Classroom on September 9, 2019. You will be performing a cloud classification and observation activity. Please keep in mind that this assignment CANNOT be done in one day - you will need to observe five different types of clouds. It is rare to have that many types of clouds visible in one day. A list of the basic types of clouds and the full directions are attached. You may not share photographs with each other and you may not download photos from the internet. Be prepared to prove that you took the photo. (When I did a similar project for my degree I placed a cut out symbol in each photograph to prove it was my original.) This assignment will count as two homework grades. Please e-mail me if you have any questions. I will not be checking daily, but I will respond within 3 days time.
I look forward to meeting you in September!
