    Our School Counselors have Master's Degrees and are professionally trained to assist all students in the three domains of school counseling: academic success, college and career readiness, and social/emotional development. Click here for the American School Counselor Association description of the high school counselor. Under Multi-Tiered System of Supports, direct counseling services include: school-wide activities, classroom lessons, individual planning or counseling, group counseling sessions, referral to resources.
    Student Assistance Coordinators (SAC) ASAP
    Our SACs are additional school counseling department personnel to assist students with substance abuse prevention/intervention strategies and programs, including Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Under the Multi-Tiered System of Supports, direct SAC services include: school-wide activities, classroom lessons, individual or group sessions, referral to resources. According to the Federal Regulation (42 CFR Part 2), the SAC and School Counselor cannot disclose confidential student information related to substance abuse without the permission of the student. Mrs. Toni Silvestri, Counseling Secretary

Mrs. Silvestri is a lifetime resident of Washington Township as well as a graduate of Washington Township High School. She has been involved in our school system for over 30 years, as she actively volunteered her time (as a parent) with each of her three children. Mrs. Silvestri began her career within the district as a One-to-One Assistant at Birches Elementary School. She then served as a Literacy Assistant at Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center. Mrs. Silvestri continued as an Administrative Assistant in the Main Office at Orchard Valley Middle School and is currently an Administrative Assistant in the Counseling Office at Washington Township High School. Mrs. Silvestri values the opportunity to assist students of all ages. Her favorite pastime is her family, and the blessing of sharing love and laughter with her children and beloved grandchildren!

Ms. Allison Brewer, Counseling Secretary

Ms. Brewer grew up in Washington Township, attending Birches Elementary, Washington Township Middle School (which was the only middle school at the time), and Washington Township High School. After graduating from high school, she jumped into the workforce and began working as a legal secretary in Philadelphia. She later attended Rowan University to pursue an Art and Graphic Design career. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and began a career as a Graphic Designer. After taking some time from that profession to raise her children, she began a new career within our school district, starting at Thomas Jefferson Elementary as a part-time BSI Assistant. She then moved into the office as a clerical working between the main office and Mr. Vogt's school counseling office. Ms. Brewer then moved to Whitman Elementary and jumped back into the BSI department as a full-time BSI assistant. Now she is part of our WTHS counseling team as a counseling secretary. Ms. Brewer enjoys the excitement of assisting students as they plan for their future. She is kept busy with her two children who are active, with sports and activities, as well as attending middle school and preparing for high school.

Ms. Sarah Czar, School Counselor

Ms. Czar received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy (pre-law) from Villanova University where she swam competitively on the division 1 level. Following her undergraduate education, Ms. Czar completed a year of public service with an AmeriCorps program servicing youth in the justice system which inspired her to pursue a career working with youth and families. After furthering her work in the community setting, she attended Rowan University for graduate school where she received her Master of Arts in Counseling in Educational Settings and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Ms. Czar has worked as a certified high school counselor since 2015 in both Camden, NJ and Upper Darby, PA and has a great passion for empowering students to reach their full potential. She is so excited to get to work with students and families of Washington Township as part of the WTHS School Counseling team! In her free time, Ms. Czar enjoys crocheting, making pottery, learning new things, and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Karin Eckert-Carpenter, School Counselor

Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University. She also received her Master of Arts Degree in Student Personnel Services from Rowan University, and a Master of Education in School Leadership from Wilmington University. Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter began her teaching/coaching career in 1983. She taught at Lenape High School and coached field hockey at Pennsbury High School. In 1984, she was hired by the Washington Township School District as a Health and Physical Education teacher at WTHS. Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter has coached girls’ soccer, field hockey and softball at WTHS. Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter also taught for the Department of Defense Schools Camp Lejeune, NC. Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter began her career as a school counselor at WTHS in 1992. Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter enjoys spending time with her husband and six children. Her children graduated Erica (WTHS 2001), Justin (GCIT 2006), Patrick (WTHS 2008), John (WTHS 2012), Melanie (WTHS 2014), and Joe (WTHS 2015). Congratulations Mrs. Eckert-Carpenter, WTPS Secondary 2019-2020 Educational Services Professional of the Year and 2021 GCPCA Counselor of the County!

Mrs. Amanda Hamer, School Counselor

Mrs. Hamer received her Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal/Organizational Communication and Master of Arts in Counseling in Educational Settings from Rowan University, with an additional graduate certificate from Drexel University in Student Development. Before joining the WTHS Counseling Team in 2015, Mrs. Hamer was a Senior Academic Advisor at Drexel University, where she also instructed the freshman seminar courses for her college. Mrs. Hamer is a proud graduate of the Washington Township School District, attending Bells Elementary, Orchard Valley Middle, and WTHS. She enjoys traveling, baking, music, shopping, and spending time with her husband and two children.

Ms. Abigail Hull, School Counselor

Ms. Abigail Hull is a graduate of Stockton University, having earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology before pivoting her career to the counseling field. She received her master’s degree in Counseling in Educational Settings from Rowan University in 2020 and fulfilled a long-term substitute position in the Washington Township school district before accepting her role at the high school. Her education enabled Ms. Hull the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including elementary and middle school levels, as well as a medical rehabilitation facility. When Ms. Hull is not working, she enjoys running, traveling, and spending plenty of time at the beach. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to support and serve the students of Washington Township as a member of the WTHS Counseling Team!

Mr. Aaron Lemons, School Counselor

Mr. Lemons received his Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology from Park University in 2008 and his Master of Arts in Counseling in Educational Settings from Rowan University in 2021. Mr. Lemons is a retired Veteran of the United States Army. He and his family returned to New Jersey after a successful 20-year military career. Mr. Lemons is married and has two children. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching and participating in sports, traveling, and completing DIY home improvement projects. Mr. Lemons is also a member of a local Gloucester County Veterans of Foreign Affairs (VFW) affiliation.

Mrs. Frances Mulvihill, School Counselor

Mrs. Mulvihill was an honors graduate from Washington Township High School, attending college on a full academic scholarship.  She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Glassboro State College, the last graduating class, before being renamed to Rowan University. She taught at the elementary school level for nine years at Jeffrey Clark School in Mickleton, NJ. In 1998, she was named Teacher of the Year for the East Greenwich Township School District. Mrs. Mulvihill received her Master of Arts Degree in Student Personnel Services from Rowan University in 1999. She and her husband are raising their two boys in Washington Township. Her older son attends Rowan University for Electrical and Computer Engineering (WTHS Class of 2019).  Her younger son attends WTHS (Class of 2024).  Mrs. Mulvihill enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, and sitting on the beach.

Mr. Carl Palmer, School Counselor

Mr. Palmer completed his BA in Communications from Rowan University and a BA in Business Studies from Stockton University. He later went on to earn MA degrees in Student Personnel Services and School Administration from Rowan University. He also completed graduate coursework to earn his Substance Awareness Coordinator (SAC) certificate from Stockton. After nearly 15 years working in the private industry, Mr. Palmer entered the educational profession as a high school business teacher for seven years. Afterward teaching, he worked as a school counselor in a variety of settings and grades: Blue Ribbon high schools, elementary-middle school, and at-risk youth programs. Concurrent with work and college, Mr. Palmer served nearly 30 years in the NJ Army National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Palmer is very involved in professional counselor organizations. Mr. Palmer enjoys riding his motorcycle, traveling, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends and family. He is excited to be a member of the Washington Township School Counseling team!

Ms. Stockl graduated from Trenton State College with a degree in Mathematics Education in 1988.  She was then hired to teach Mathematics in 1989 at WTHS. Ms. Stockl also went back to school to earn her Masters Degree in Student Personnel Services from Rowan University and graduated in 1994. After 26 years of being in the classroom and teaching a variety of math classes from basic skills, in-class support and honors level, Ms. Stockl is now serving as a school counselor. Ms. Stockl serves as the Varsity Girls Lacrosse coach and has been doing so since its inaugural year of 1994. Ms. Stockl is a resident of Washington Township and enjoys spending time with her family, friends, taking her daughter to activities, and completing home projects.

Mrs. Andra Williams, School Counselor

Mrs. Williams received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Widener University and her Master of Arts in Student Personnel Services from Rowan University. Beginning her career at Washington Township High School in 1996, Mrs. Williams taught 9th and 10th Grade English for five years before joining the counseling department. Mrs. Williams is the advisor for Peer Facilitators and the Freshman Transition Program. In addition, Mrs. Williams was recognized as the 2014-15 WTHS Educational Services Professional of the Year and 2014-15 Gloucester County School Counselor of the Year. Mrs. Williams, a Washington Township High School graduate and Washington Township resident, enjoys spending time with her three children, husband, and family. She takes great pride in being able to work with families in the community and believes in caring for her counselees the same way she would care for her own children!

Mrs. Francesca Contino-Jackson, Student Assistance Coordinator & Anti-Bullying Specialist, Grades 9-10, Room I113

Mrs. Contino-Jackson received her BA in Psychology and a BA in Theatre with a minor in Dance from Rowan University. She then continued at Rowan University for her MA in Counseling in Educational Settings as well as her MA in Mental Health Counseling. While at Rowan, she ran cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field. Mrs. Contino-Jackson then attended The College of New Jersey for her Student Assistance Coordinator certificate. Since then, she has been obtaining her PhD in Addiction Psychology from Capella University. Mrs. Contino-Jackson is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She works as a therapist in the evenings for a private practice. When not working or completing homework, Mrs. Contino-Jackson enjoys running, traveling, and hanging out with her cat and husband.

Mr. Jamie Oliver, Student Assistance Coordinator & Anti-Bullying Specialist, Grades 11-12, Room B18

Mr. Jamie Oliver attended Rowan University and received a BA in Psychology. While there, he played for their baseball team. Shortly after graduation, Mr. Oliver began his career at Yale School in Cherry Hill, NJ and moved on to work for the juvenile probation system while obtaining his SAC Certification. Mr. Oliver began his career in Washington Township in 2000 when he split his duties between OVMS and WTHS for five years. We are happy to have him as part of our team at WTHS on a full-time basis. Mr. Oliver has coached at WTHS for softball, powderpuff, and chaperoned the senior trips. During his free time, you can find him on the golf course!
